Fat Tuesday Parades

Who wants some beads?! Join us for Fat Tuesday during the summer as HarborWalk Village transforms into “The Big Easy”. It’s one Pardi in Paradise where you can enjoy dazzling floats, beads and lots of swag during our FREE PARADE through HarborWalk Village! Laissez les bons temps rouler! Celebration begins at 7 PM with live music by FuZion Band and the Village Brass Band, parade rolls at 8:30 PM with a firespinning show by Just Add Fire following the parade.

Friends Guild of the Destin Library “Monthly Movie Night”

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library Inc. will sponsor a monthly movie night featuring independent films and documentaries on the third Tuesday of each month beginning at 3 PM. The film series may occasionally feature a foreign film. The next film of the series, “Still Alice,” will be offered on Jan 19th. The program is free and open to the public. Films are unrated and directed towards mature audiences. Seating will be limited to 30 on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Destin Library has announced that Captain Pickle will be making three upcoming appearances this summer at the Destin Library. He will be reading some of his favorite stories and providing support to children to complete a craft project designed around the story on each date.

Seating will be limited to 10 children at each event. Parents of children grades 1 – 3 are encouraged to preregister for one or more of these events by calling 850-837-8572.

Tuesday, July 12th, (3:30 PM) Eric Carle: The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Captain Pickle (AKA: Destin’s own Dill Beaty) has been telling tales for decades to children by reading stories in a unique way. Among Captain Pickle’s favorite authors are Margaret Wise Brown, Eric Carle and Maurice Sendak. Since 2002, Dill Beaty has been the cartoonist for the Destin Log delighting readers with his accurate yet humorous depiction of life along the Emerald Coast.
