So you want to plan a vacation to Destin, but the weather is starting to get a little cooler and the waters of the gulf are starting to become chilly. September 30 – October 2
This will be our 38th year of the Destin Seafood Festival. Destin has one of the largest fishing fleets in the country. If ever you wanted fresh seafood from Florida, this is one event you don’t want to miss. Restaurants from all over the city congregate around the Destin Harbor and sell fresh-made, culinary delights. Like every event in Destin, live music and activities are available for people of all ages.
This event began in 1948 and has grown to be one of the biggest fishing events in all of the Gulf of Mexico. There are all kinds of categories to compete in, with big money prizes and the chance to have bragging rights to having caught the biggest fish. Even if you don’t like to fishing, you can enjoy coming down to Destin Harbor every day in October to Al’s Seafood where the official weigh-ins are recorded. This is a great spot to have a drink and take photos of some of the incredible species of fish ever seen.
October 14 & 15
This will be the 9th annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival. You will be guaranteed to have the most fun possible on the bay. There will be over 200 American and international craft brews. There will be beer aficionados to answer any questions you may have, and help you learn about the emerging trend of craft brewing.
October 29 & 30
This festival which is in its 21st year is recognized as one of the premier art festivals anywhere on the gulf coast. Artists from all across the country will come to this festival. This festival continues to showcase Destin’s commitment to the arts. It is provided by the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation.
This event takes place east of Destin in the town of Seaside on County Highway 30A. This will be the 26th annual festival. This event lasts 4 days. It includes exclusive tastings, specially paired food treats, live music and more. You will be able to talk to winemakers and experts from all over the world. This short little trip to quaint Seaside, home of The Truman Show, will be one you won’t forget.
